Fishing tournament

In 2026, the CYP Challenge returns with a renewed edition full of excitement, high-level competition, and major cash prizes.

Organized by the Club de Yates y Pesca de Panamá, this tournament brings together top sportfishing teams for two intense days where strategy, skill, and passion for the ocean take center stage.


TOURNAMENT DATES:

• August 14–15, 2026


CATEGORIES:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in each division.

Main divisions:
 • Billfish (Catch & Release): Marlin and Sailfish (scored by release points)
 • Gamefish (by weight): Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Almaco Jack, Snapper, and Sierra

Special categories:
 • Top Jr Angler: Best Dorado catch (14 years old and under)
 • Top Female Angler: Heaviest Dorado of the tournament


AWARDS & RECOGNITION:

Billfish Rotating Cup: Awarded to the team with the highest total release score
 • Gamefish Rotating Cup: Awarded to the top overall performing team
 • Cash prizes for the top 3 teams in each category
 • Optional jackpots with 100% payout across multiple divisions


TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

• 2-day fishing event
 • Teams of up to 9 members (6 anglers, 1 captain, 2 mates)
 • Scoring system:

  • Marlin: 500 points
  • Sailfish: 100 points
     • Up to 3 fish per species per day in Gamefish division
     • Official weigh-ins at Pearl Island Marina
     • Digital release verification via video (Catch Stats App)

REGISTRATION:

General entry per team: $650

Includes participation in all official tournament categories.
 Jackpots are optional and paid separately.
